Rated R :: The children of the Farmington Valley tell a tale, they claim that there’s a man in the woods. They say a shadow stalks the pines, always on the prowl for those unfortunate enough to find themselves in the forest past midnight. Some locals even say they’ve seen it, a pair of two glowing white eyes, wide as saucers, passing across their backwoods. In the early 00’s, several people from the nearby towns all went missing, and are presumed dead. Police and investigators claim each trail ‘ran cold’ before moving their attention to bigger things. This fall, our heroes have returned to their hometown here in the valley, back from college, work, or far away. Regardless of their motivation for leaving, the town has sucked them back in. This game will be played using the ‘Monster Of The Week’ TTRPG, inspired by things like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Into The Woods, and local legend. Where players will investigate, lie, extort, and fight through this mystery to uncover the truth behind the man in the woods, and who or what it truly is.
Game Experience Level
Beginner
Monster of The Week is a Powered by The Apocalypse game system, which makes it extremely beginner friendly. Dice rolls are all 2D6, and the story/gameplay are much less structured then traditional TTRPG’s. I highly encourage anyone playing to read the manual, but if you don’t then it should be quick for you to pick up. The only “requirements” is a sturdy imagination and a love of roleplay.
